Elmhurst Standoff: Woman Held Against Will, Cops Says
A gun was believed to have been involved in the incident, police said. Neighboring homes were evacuated.
ELMHURST, IL – A male held a woman against her will for several hours Saturday in Elmhurst, with police trying to get her released, according to a police news release.
Police said they believed a gun was involved in the incident, which took place in the 1100 block of Eldridge Lane. Several neighboring homes were evacuated, and local traffic was diverted away from the area, police said. The incident started about 7 a.m.
Officers negotiated with the male, who was in the town home with the woman, according to the news release. The woman was able to leave the home with the assistance of police.

The man was taken into custody about 12:45 p.m. and taken to the police station for further investigation, police said.
