In one case, a woman's purse was stolen while she was shopping, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – This week, Elmhurst police responded to two incidents involving customers who became victims of theft. Here is the information:

  • A woman told police that someone stole her purse that she had placed in her shopping cart about 3 p.m. Wednesday at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83. Another woman was seen on surveillance footage taking the purse and leaving in a black Chevrolet Impala, last seen heading north on Route 83. An investigation is pending. The suspect was described as black, in her 30s, and wearing a gray hoodie with "Brooklyn" on the breast, blue sweatpants and white Nike shoes.
  • A woman told police that while assisting a man deposit money with Western Union, he took her money without her realizing it. It occurred about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Walgreens, 160 N. Robert Palmer Drive. An investigation is pending. The man was described as white, 25 to 35, 5-foot-10 to 6 feet, having blond, slicked-back hair, and wearing a tan jacket, white shirt and dark jeans.
