Elmhurst Store Robbed At Gunpoint: Cops

The getaway car was found in Chicago a couple of hours later, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – Two men robbed an Elmhurst store at gunpoint early Monday evening, police said.

According to a police news release, the men entered the AT&T store, 291 N. York St., just before it closed at 7 p.m. One of the men displayed a black handgun, while the other carried a large duffel bag, police said.

The men stole $2,400 in cash and cellphones from the store, police said. They then ran into a waiting car on Columbia Street, just north of the business, according to the release. It is believed a third suspect then drove the getaway vehicle.

No store employees or customers were injured, police said.

Witnesses told police the getaway car was a gray 2006 Infiniti sedan with tinted windows. About 9 p.m., Elmhurst detectives found the car abandoned in the 4400 block of West Jackson in Chicago and impounded it, police said.

Detectives are canvassing the area for nearby security video cameras.

The first man was described as black, carrying a blue duffel bag, and wearing a white surgical mask, a black hooded sweatshirt and black skinny jeans.

The second one was described as black, armed with a handgun, and wearing a black mask, a black T-shirt with a black and red logo on the front of it and blue jeans with torn knees.
