Elmhurst Truck Hub Boosts Security: Lawyer
The police issued their second chronic nuisance warning to the business.

ELMHURST, IL – An Elmhurst trucking hub that is the site of frequent police calls says it has increased its security.
In July, the city issued its second chronic nuisance warning to Super Ego Logistics, 677 N. Larch Ave., within 180 days.
The latest warning was after Elmhurst police arrested a Super Ego security guard and an employee. Officers said the two got into a fight.

The warning required a response from the company within 10 days. Super Ego missed the deadline by five days; Patch obtained the company's letter through a public records request.
In the letter, Super Ego attorney Luka Madzarac said the company was taking the matter seriously and looking to make changes to prevent such incidents.

"As unfortunate as these incidents were, we take full responsibility because they occurred on our property," Madzarac said. "We enjoy being in the city of Elmhurst and are willing to make necessary adjustments to deter similar activities in the future."
Madzarac said the firm has increased its security team, which patrols the property around the clock. If the budget permits, he said, Super Ego plans to add even more guards.
He also said Super Ego has retrained its staff on ways to mitigate situations such as the one that occurred July 24.
He said the company was willing to hear any suggestions from Elmhurst police on ways to reduce nuisance activity.
Madzarac also explained the late response to the police. He said a certain employee, whose name the city redacted, was out of the office, so he did not see the letter until last Tuesday, the day he wrote the response.
Madzarac appears to be the company's in-house lawyer, using a Super Ego email address and its letterhead.
In February, a truck driver was accused of threatening Super Ego co-workers with a machete. And in March, a truck driver was spit on by a former co-worker outside the Super Ego building, police said.
Numerous thefts and disturbances have been reported at Super Ego.
Super Ego is also facing a federal class action lawsuit from truckers who accuse it of fraudulently reducing their load prices. The company says the drivers are misinterpreting their contracts.
