Elmhurst Woman And Felon Arrested On Gun Charges: Cops

The pair were taken to the county jail after police responded to a domestic disturbance.

ELMHURST, IL – An Elmhurst woman and a Bensenville man were arrested on gun charges last week, Elmhurst police said.

They were taken to the DuPage County Jail, where they remained Tuesday morning.

Daniela Honorato, 21, of the 700 block of North Kenilworth Avenue in Elmhurst, and Jose Santiago, 22, of the 200 block of West Roosevelt Avenue in Bensenville, were arrested on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

Santiago was also charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, police said.

The incident in question happened about 3 p.m. Thursday at Cottage Hill Avenue and Harbour Terrace, police said.

When officers responded to a domestic disturbance, Santiago was found to be entering a Honda Accord with what was thought to be a handgun, but later determined to be a BB gun, police said. After further investigation, officers found a 9mm Taurus gun in the car, police said.

Both suspects were accused of having ammunition.
