A 34-year-old Elmhurst woman was arrested on charges of prowling, injury to property, possession of open alcohol, and burning garbage or rubbish. Police said she started a small fire to keep warm in a passageway at PNC Bank, 565 S. York St.

ELMHURST, IL – An Elmhurst woman started a small fire to keep warm Monday night near PNC Bank, 565 S. York St., police said.

The 34-year-old was arrested on charges of prowling, injuring property, possessing open alcohol, and burning garbage or rubbish. She was released.

Police said they found the woman lying near a small garbage fire in between the passageway of the bank, police said. She told officers she was trying to stay warm while she waited for a friend to get off work.

Police said the woman was possibly homeless, but they listed an address for her in the 600 block of South Fairview Avenue. A look at property tax records shows that a family with the same surname lives in the house in question.
