ELMHURST, IL – In real terms, the city of Elmhurst's property tax levy has declined over the last decade.

In 2010, the city's sought $18.9 million from property taxpayers. That number was $21.2 million in 2020, according to the city's annual audit.

But the growth was less than the rate of inflation during those years. Had the property tax levy gone up with the consumer price index, it would have been $22.4 million in 2020.
