Enjoy Derby Day fun at the Young at Heart Run for the Roses Social

Bensenville, Ill. (April 27, 2026) — Active adults are invited to join the excitement and pageantry of the Kentucky Derby with a festive, senior-focused celebration at the Run for the Roses Social, a derby-themed drop-in event designed for the Young at Heart.

Sponsored by the Radcliff senior living community in Wood Dale, the event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, May 7, in the Oak Room at the Deer Grove Leisure Center, 1000 W. Wood St., Bensenville.

Participants will enjoy a relaxed afternoon of refreshments, pinwheels and light snacks, along with derby-themed trivia and a screening of Secretariat, the inspiring story of one of horse racing’s most legendary champions. Guests are encouraged to embrace the spirit of Derby Day by wearing floral hats and festive attire.

“This event is all about capturing the fun and pageantry of Derby Day in a way that’s welcoming and easy to enjoy,” said Nicole Branscum. “It’s a great opportunity to bring people together for a lighthearted afternoon of socializing and entertainment.”
