Enrollment Up In Elmhurst Schools
York High School is seeing a drop in the number of students, according to a report.

ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst School District 205 has seen a 1.4 percent rise in enrollment this year, the district reported last week.
The enrollment is 8,292, up 114 students from last year.
The Madison Early Childhood Center's enrollment rose by 42 students, to 305, representing a 16 percent hike.

According to the district, the number of kindergarten-through-fifth-grade students rose by 66, totaling 3,483. That represents a 1.9 percent increase.
Local middle schools have 50 more students this year, or a 2.9 percent increase, for a total of 1,804.

York High School, however, experienced a 1.6 percent decrease, with 44 fewer students. York's enrollment is 2,700.
According to the district's report, York's enrollment peaked in 2019-20 at 2,882. It then decreased for three years in a row. With York having a large senior class but small ninth and 10th grade classes, the number of students is expected to decline slightly over the next few years, the district says.
The district projects kindergarten enrollment to rise with the new Lincoln Elementary this year and the expected new Field Elementary next year.
Overall, the district started the eight-year period with 8,326 students, ending with the current 8,292. That demonstrates "a very stable and manageable period of enrollment," the report said.
