Upendo Village Founder Sister Florence Muia Will Speak at IC, Visit Cuvee Cellars

Sister Florence Muia, former Nobel Peace Prize nominee and founder of Upendo Village, is visiting us all the way from Kenya.

Sister Florence will be speaking at all of the masses at Immaculate Conception Church in Elmhurst on Feb. 18 and 19 to share the work and mission of Upendo Village.  This remarkable woman and organization is helping thousands of women and children who are affected by HIV/AIDS in Kenya by providing loving and supporting programs to give them strength, hope and self-sufficiency.

Upendo Village is located in Naivasha, Kenya, and operates a clinic, community center and staff house providing resources and support for more than 5,000 people per month affected by HIV/AIDS.  Clients are surrounded with loving care and are given resources and access to programs that improve health, restore self-respect and give hope.  Upendo Village, created in 2002 with the dedicated and loving partnership of The Wheaton Franciscan Community and The Assumption Sisters of Nairobi, is an Illinois 501(c)(3) corporation responsible for fund raising and professional oversight of operations.  Upendo Village is a ministry of Wheaton Franciscan Services, Inc.
