"As a convicted felon, Mr. Corral is prohibited from ever owning or possessing a firearm," DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement. "Instead of conducting himself within the legal limitations placed upon him due to his multiple felony convictions, Mr. Corral decided to not only illegally arm himself, but also fire his weapon at an occupied vehicle."

Corral will be required to serve 85 percent of his sentence before being eligible for parole, Berlin said.
