Ex-Worker Defrauds Elmhurst Contractor: Cops

In another case, a woman bought a car from a local dealership using a fictitious name, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – Three Elmhurst businesses made calls to the police in the last few days. Here is information from the reports:

Deceptive practice

  • Aegis Construction, 331 N. York St., told police Thursday that a former employee completed several jobs for the firm but had customers send the checks to him. The person did not pay the company.

  • Win Auto Plaza, 704 W. Lake St., told police Thursday that a woman bought a car using a fictitious name and a fraudulent check. An investigation is pending.

Suspicious

  • About 6 p.m. Friday, two men entered Susan Lugo Brows and Beauty, 261 N. York St., and asked for monetary donations for their organization. A woman in the business told them she was not interested. They made a comment about her diamond ring. After closing, the doors were locked. The woman saw one of the men pulling the door before walking away. The men were described as Hispanic. One was 35 to 40 years old, while the other was 20 to 25 with dark hair, police said.
