Ex-Worker Steals From Elmhurst Restaurant: Cops
The former employee said he would return the stolen equipment, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a restaurant theft, illegal dumping, vandalism, abandoned bikes, vulgar messages, a medical emergency and a fall. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Restaurant theft
- A former employee stole a sushi cooler Friday or Saturday at Mata Ne New Asian Restaurant, 130 N. York St. The former employee told the restaurant that he was using the equipment, but would return it. An investigation is pending.
Illegal dumping

- The driver of a red dump truck illegally dumped a large amount of wood chips about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in a driveway in the 200 block of South Arlington Avenue. An investigation is pending.
Damage
- A lawn statue near the front door of a house was damaged about 7:30 a.m. Monday in the 200 block of East Crescent. Surveillance footage shows a man trying to take control of his dog and then reaching toward the statue before walking away.
Abandoned bikes

- Two abandoned bicycles were found abandoned about 6 p.m. Monday in a wooded area near Vallette and Edgewood. An officer placed the bikes into evidence for safekeeping.
Vulgar messages
- A woman in the 300 block of East Madison Street told police Wednesday that a suspect was sending her vulgar messages. She said the suspect was violating an order of protection, which barred the suspect from contacting her. An investigation is pending.
Medical emergency
- About 7 p.m. Wednesday, police were notified of a driver swerving and changing lanes near York and Wrightwood. The driver was found to be suffering from a medical emergency. The driver was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
Fall
- A man fell about 6 a.m. July 12 near Sandburg Middle School, 345 E. St. Charles Road. The man lost his footing and slipped backward, striking the pavement. He did not have any visible injuries, but was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
