Explicit Images, Gibberish: Elmhurst Cops
An Elmhurst resident sent explicit images to a stranger, then realized it was a scam, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In recent days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving explicit images, a man speaking gibberish, sexual assault, mail fraud, a domestic disturbance, a visitation issue and vandalism. Here is information from the latest police reports:
Explicit images
- A resident in the 100 block of East Belden told police Saturday he sent explicit images of himself to a stranger on Snapchat. The stranger threatened to share the images if the resident failed to send money. The resident sent the money.

- A woman told police that a man approached her and her children speaking gibberish about 7:30 p.m. Monday at Butterfield Park, 385 E. Van Buren. He then left in a white Chevrolet Tahoe when the woman's husband approached. The man was described as Asian, 20 to 30 years old, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-7, 200 to 215 pounds, having black shoulder-length hair, and wearing a navy blue T-shirt with white lettering, black cargo shorts and black running shoes.
Sexual assault
- A sexual assault was reported as occurring about 4 a.m. Monday in the 400 block of West St. Charles Road. The victim went to Northwestern Medicine Palos Hospital. When Elmhurst police arrived, the victim was no longer at the hospital and did not wish to speak to officers, though she provided a sexual assault kit. Officers placed it into evidence.
Assault

- Police were called to an assault in progress about 8 p.m. Sunday in the 200 block of West Butterfield Road. A man was found at his house with blood on his face. He refused medical treatment and was uncooperative with officers, stating he did not want any help.
Mail fraud
- DesignCentrix, 777 N. Church Road, mailed a check that was illegally intercepted and then deposited. The check was mailed May 1. The report was filed Thursday. An investigation is pending.
Fall
- A person fell about 9:30 a.m. Friday at First and Palmer after having trouble seeing because of the sun. The person was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
Scam
- A resident in the 400 block of West Avery told police Friday that she met someone online in March and began communicating with him. She sent him money, gift card codes, and bank account and other personal information. She later found out about fraudulent activity involving her account. She reported the scam Friday.
Fugitive driver
- About 11 p.m. Friday, an officer saw a red Jeep Grand Cherokee that had fled from the Bellwood police near Berteau Avenue and Third Street. When the officer got behind the Jeep, the driver sped away, last seen heading east on North Avenue.
Vandalism
- A wooden table and bench were defaced with yellow paint May 21 at Eldridge Park, 363 W. Commonwealth Ave. The report was filed six days later.
Visitation issue
- A man told police that the mother of his daughter failed to drop off the girl for his parenting time Saturday at Portillo's, 155 S. Route 83. The woman told police she had an active Department of Children and Family Services case against the man. She said her lawyer advised her to withhold visitation.
Domestic
- Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 6:30 a.m. Monday in the 700 block of Van Auken Street. Two people had an argument. An officer gave one of them information on how to seek an order of protection.
Car burglary
- Someone broke into an unlocked car between 8 p.m. Sunday and 3 p.m. Monday in the 500 block of North Kenilworth Avenue.
Revoked license
- Michael Arnone, 39, of Riverside, was arrested about 11 p.m. Saturday at Route 83 and North Avenue on charges of aggravated driving with a revoked license, driving with a suspended registration and driving an uninsured vehicle. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Retail theft
- Lance Alexander, 61, of Chicago, was arrested about Thursday on charges of retail theft and criminal trespassing on property where he has been given notice that he was not allowed. The incident was about 6 p.m. May 5 at McDonald's, 190 E. Butterfield Road. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
- A woman stole merchandise from Jewel, 153 E. Schiller St., about 8:30 a.m. May 13. The report was filed Thursday.
- A woman stole merchandise twice from Jewel, 944 S. York St., about 8 a.m. May 12. The report was filed Thursday.
Warrants
- Jordan McMorris, 22, of Big Rock, was arrested about 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Lake Street and Route 83 on a DeKalb County warrant and a charge of failure to wear a seatbelt. He was released on bond.
- Jack Jandick, 57, of Villa Park, was arrested about 11:30 p.m. Monday in the 100 block of North Addison Avenue on a warrant. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
