ELMHURST, IL – An Elmhurst woman lost money last week to a scam apparently involving a fake attorney, police said.

The woman, who lives in the 200 block of North Kenmore Avenue, told police she received a phone call from a person she believed to be a lawyer, who said a family member needed money, police said.

The suspect requested the woman make three separate deposits to a bitcoin machine, police said. The woman later spoke with the family member and realized she was the victim of theft by deception, police said.
