Fake Receipt Presented At Elmhurst Store: Cops
The same thing has happened at other stores in the area, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – Someone presented a forged receipt from a coin-cashing machine last month at Mariano's grocery store, 678 N. York St., Elmhurst police said.
The Coinstar ticket scanned properly, but was later found to be fake, police said.
The incident happened about 7 p.m. Oct. 19, but was reported more than a week later.

Mariano's told police the same thing happened at other stores.
Last Tuesday, Mariano's in Western Springs told police that someone presented a counterfeit receipt, prompting the store to pay out $417.41.

Elmhurst police did not say how much money the local Mariano's gave.
