False IDs, Job Scam: Elmhurst Cops
The woman was found with false identifications containing other people's information, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In recent days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving false identifications, a job scam, DUIs, a fugitive vehicle and red light fines. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
False identification cards
- Mirtha E. Nieves Gomez, 52, of Elk Grove Village, was arrested about 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Route 83 and North Avenue on charges of identity theft, possession of a fraudulent identification card and no valid driver's license. Police said she has identification cards containing other people's information. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

- A resident in the 100 block of North Addison Avenue told police Saturday that he submitted an application for a job that was posted online. The victim received an email instructing him to buy equipment for the position with a check that would be sent to him. He later received a check and was told to deposit it into his bank account. After depositing the check, the resident determined the check and the job posting were fraudulent.
DUIs
- Joel Webber III, 26, of Orland Hills, was arrested about 1 a.m. Sunday in the 300 block of East St. Charles Road on a charge of DUI. Police said Webber was in a disabled pickup truck with heavy damage. He was released on bond.
- Josue I. Garcia, 32, of Melrose Park, was arrested about 2:30 a.m. Sunday at North and Clinton avenues on charges of DUI, possession of a concealed firearm under the influence of alcohol, possession of marijuana, improper lane usage and no seatbelt. He was released on bond.

- Mara Petrovic, 65, of Bensenville, was cited about 7 p.m. Wednesday at Elmhurst Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill Road, on a charge of failure to give information after striking an unattended vehicle. She was released on bond.
Fugitive vehicle
- About 1:30 a.m. Thursday, an officer tried to stop the driver of a Chevrolet Tahoe near North and Berteau. The driver sped away, last seen headed east on Interstate 290 from Route 83. The driver was displaying a license plate that belonged to a vehicle stolen in Melrose Park.
Damage
- A resident in the 400 block of Huntington Lane told police that someone damaged his garage door by banging on it between Feb. 11 and Feb. 24. An investigation is pending.
Red light fines
- A resident in the 700 block of North Howard Avenue told police Saturday that he privately sold his Toyota Solara on Dec. 4, but did not remove the license plates. The resident has been receiving fines in the mail for running red lights. An investigation is pending.
Identity theft
- A resident in the 600 block of South Hawthorne Avenue told police Sunday that someone tried to use his identity to buy a vehicle in another state. An investigation is pending.
