Filipino group honors Elmhurst Clinic’s Janet Reyes-Macaranas

Reyes-Macaranas was recognized for her outstanding service and involvement with the Filipino community of Chicagoland and the Midwest.

Janet Reyes-Macaranas, a resident of Villa Park and a registered medical assistant with Elmhurst Clinic, was recently presented with the Philippine Independence Week Committee’s “Humanitarian and Leadership Award.” Reyes-Macaranas received the honor at the Committee’s award ceremony held at the Holiday Inn Chicago Northshore in Skokie on June 15.

Reyes-Macaranas, a native of the Philippines where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, was recognized for her outstanding service and involvement with the Filipino community of Chicagoland and the Midwest.

Reyes-Macaranas is President of the “We Care Cabusao Foundation” in Cabusao, Camarines Sur, Philippines. The group’s many humanitarian projects include three medical missions to the Philippines since 2013, construction of chapels, distribution of relief goods and school supplies, and monthly activities for children and senior citizens.
