Fire Damages House In Elmhurst Neighborhood

Flames were seen in the back of the house, police said. The likely cause was revealed.

ELMHURST, IL – A fire damaged a house early Wednesday morning in the 200 block of South Fairfield Avenue, Elmhurst police said.

Officers said they saw flames in the back of the house and found the back porch and door on fire.

The fire department, which responded about 3:30 a.m., put out the fire.

The fire was believed to have been caused by the gas grill, which had not been turned off, police said. No one was reported injured.
