Fired Worker, Irate Customer: Elmhurst Cops

An employee did not return the company's property after being let go, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a fired employee, a threatening customer, an argument, cash left behind in an ATM, forgeries, catalytic converter thefts and disorderly conduct. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Fired employee

  • Managed Care Partners, 875 N. Addison Ave., told police Monday that a former employee failed to return company-owned property after being fired. The incident was Jan. 26.

Threatening customer

  • A customer became irate and threatened an employee after he was denied a refund about 2 p.m. Tuesday at the AT&T Store, 291 N. York St. The suspect admitted to yelling at the employee, but denied threatening her. He said he would not return to the store.

Disorderly conduct

  • A driver told police Tuesday that someone followed his car with several bright strobes about 11 p.m. Tuesday at York and Fullerton. The driver did not want to sign a complaint.

Argument

  • A woman told police Wednesday that she felt threatened after an argument with another woman. The argument was about 11 a.m. Wednesday in the 800 block of North York Street. The suspect said she would never harm the other woman. She said she would apologize.

Cash left behind

  • A woman told police she made multiple withdrawals from an ATM about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at 7-Eleven, 155 E. First St. She left the money in the machine. When she returned to retrieve it a short while later, it was no longer there. Police found that a person discovered the money. Officers planned to return the cash to the woman.

Forgeries

  • A resident in the 500 block of East Adams Street told police Monday that two checks were forged. The resident's bank said the transaction was blocked. No financial loss was reported.

Bike found

  • A Nishiki brand bicycle was found Tuesday at Wilder Park, 175 S. Prospect Ave. It was believed to have been there for nearly two weeks. The bike was placed into evidence for safekeeping.

Converter thefts

  • A catalytic converter was stolen from a vehicle in the two weeks before Monday at the business complex at 730 N. York St. The theft was reported Tuesday.
  • A catalytic converter was stolen from a vehicle in the two weeks before Tuesday in the parking at Elmhurst Toyota, 440 W. Lake St. The theft was reported Tuesday.

Order of protection

  • A resident in the 500 block of North Howard Avenue told police Wednesday she needed assistance in serving an order of protection to a suspect. The suspect was then served the order.
