Fired Workers In Elmhurst Prompt Police Calls: Cops
In another case, a man lied to local police that he was stabbed, so he was charged, authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving fired employees, a false stabbing report, trespassing at a church, smashed windows, fugitive drivers and retail theft. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Fired workers
- Jimmy John's, 696 W. North Ave., informed police about 1 p.m. Thursday that a just-fired employee refused to leave the business. Police gave the person a no-trespass notice. The person left without any problems.
- Semblex, a manufacturer at 900 N. Church Road, fired an employee after the employee sent an offensive text to other staff. Police were called about 10 a.m. Thursday to give the former employee a no-trespass notice. The person left without any problems.
False report

- A man told police about 3:30 a.m. Sunday a stranger stabbed him in his left forearm. After further investigation, officers discovered it was a self-inflicted wound. The man was taken to Elmhurst Hospital. Police said the man would be charged with disorderly conduct involving filing a false police report.
Trespassing
- The pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church, 142 E. Third St., told a man he was no longer allowed on the church's property. The man returned about 1:30 p.m. Sunday and was given a no-trespass notice.
Smashed windows

- Someone shattered the back window of a blue Kia Niro about 9 p.m. Sunday in the 400 block of North Ridgeland Avenue. An investigation is pending.
- A back window was smashed between Wednesday and Friday at Comcast, 688 Industrial Drive. Nothing appeared to be stolen.
Fugitive drivers
- About 11 p.m. Friday, an officer tried to stop a speeding purple Honda Civic near Interstate 290 and North Avenue. The driver did not stop and was last seen heading east on Interstate 290.
- An officer saw the driver of a gray Kia Soul speeding shortly before midnight Thursday at Route 83 and Lake Street. The car was reported stolen Feb. 25 in Mount Prospect.
Well-being check
- A woman was found standing along the railroad tracks underneath Interstate 294 about 11 a.m. Saturday. She was from the nearby Concord Place retirement community in Northlake. She was taken back to Concord's nursing home.
Retail theft
- A man placed a vacuum into his shopping cart and stole it about 3 p.m. April 26 at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83. The theft was reported nine days later.
