Fired Workers Harass Elmhurst Business: Cops

In another case, seal-coaters tried charging more than the agreed-upon price, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving harassing calls, a fugitive driver, domestic disturbances, retail theft and trespassing. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Harassing calls

  • Elmhurst Premier Childcare Center, 180 N. York St., received several harassing phone calls from fired employees Tuesday. Each suspect was given a no-trespass notice.

  • Two men offered to seal-coat a homeowner's driveway in the 300 block of North Larch Avenue. The suspects finished the work and then tried charging more than the agreed-upon price about 4:30 p.m. Friday. The suspects left.

Fugitive driver

  • An officer tried to stop the driver of a black Infiniti EX35 about 2 a.m. Thursday at Interstate 290 and St. Charles Road. The driver sped away, last seen heading east on I-290.

Domestic disturbance

  • In a domestic disturbance, a woman reported arguing with someone else about 9 a.m. Friday outside her house in the 400 block of West St. Charles Road. During the dispute, the suspect took her phone. The woman tried to retrieve it, which resulted in scratches on the suspect. The two people were separated, with the suspect agreeing to leave.
  • A woman told police Sunday that a person had struck her in the face during an argument about 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Courtyard Marriott, 370 N. Route 83. The woman was uncooperative, and the suspect denied hitting her. No one was injured, and no arrests were made.

Retail theft

  • Two suspects stole perfume before running away about 4 p.m. Friday at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83. The theft was reported about three hours later. One of the suspects was described as a Hispanic male, 18-30, having a black goatee, and wearing denim shorts and a red shirt.

Trespassing

  • A guest had been staying on Elmhurst University property for a week. That violated campus policy, which says a guest can stay no longer than three days. The suspect was served with a no-trespass notice Sunday.
