Fireworks In Elmhurst Prompt Bomb Squad Effort: Cops
Two adults were charged in connection with violating state law, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – On Saturday night, some people in Elmhurst did not leave commercial-grade fireworks to the professionals, police said.
Elmhurst police said they responded to three separate 911 calls reporting large commercial-grade fireworks being detonated.
In one case, officers found a large cache of fireworks with launch tubes in a city street, police said.

Because of the size of the fireworks, the DuPage County Sheriff's Office's bomb squad safely removed the fireworks in question, police said.
Elmhurst police said they charged two adults with violating the state Pyrotechnic Use Act. If found guilty, they may face fines of up to $2,500 per offense.

In a statement, police said, "Many residents are negatively affected by fireworks and EPD will respond to their 911 calls. Use of large fireworks in dense residential neighborhoods is dangerous and against the law in Illinois."
