In wake of the recent pedestrian fatality in North York Road it is time to demand a road diet on this stretch of road. This should have been done years ago and any further delay represents negligence by our city government.
This five lane thoroughfare should be reduced to at best 2 lanes plus a turn lane. We could add a protected bike line and enhanced sidewalks as well.
Our goal should not be the expediency of vehicle traffic but enhanced quality of life of our residents and businesses on Notth York Road.

The current poor road design encourages speeding and aggressive behavior behind the wheel. A person was actually shot in the face on this stretch of road.
At what point will our City Council address this important issue? No more band aid solutions. Elmhurst deserves better.
