Free Language, Hearing Screenings Offered

Elmhurst College clinic will look at speech, fluency, voice and memory.

ELMHURST, IL — Free screenings will be offered for children and adults next month at the Elmhurst Speech Language Hearing Clinic at Elmhurst College.

The screenings at the Jan. 18 clinic will include:

  • Speech and language for children 18 months and older
  • Fluency
  • Voice
  • Adult language screenings
  • Memory and cognition
  • Oral-motor, swallowing, feeding screenings for children and adults
  • Hearing for children and adults

Screenings will be conducted by Elmhurst College graduate students enrolled in the Communication Sciences and Disorders master's degree program. All screenings will be supervised by speech-language pathologists who are licensed in Illinois and certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. After the screenings, any clients who may need additional evaluations will be notified.

The Speech Language Hearing Clinic Community Day will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, in Circle Hall, 190 S. Prospect Ave. in Elmhurst.

Attendees are asked to RSVP to ensure that an adequate number of student and faculty clinicians will be available. Call 630-617-3555 or email speechclinic@elmhurst.edu. While RSVPs are encouraged, walk-ins will be accepted.
