Go for the Pot of Gold at the Inaugural Lucky Leprechaun 5K in Downtown Elmhurst

Downtown Elmhurst will be awash in a sea of green on Sunday, March 16th as hundreds of leprechauns run and walk the streets during the inaugural Lucky Leprechaun 5K. Why not begin a new and healthy St. Patrick’s Day tradition and join them? It’s a great way to kickoff the spring outdoor activity season as well as a manageable goal for which to train during the doldrums of winter. And it’s going to be a magical good time!

The race, which is USATF certified and chip timed, benefits the Elmhurst YMCA, an affiliate of a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Walkers and strollers are welcome to join. Bring the whole family out for a day that is sure to be full of fun.

Every participant will receive a one-of-a-kind race shirt, and the first 500 will receive a very cool leprechaun hat and beard. Sport your new look during the race, along with all the green you can find as you stride for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow – err, finish line. Celebrate afterwards at one of two shamrockin’ parties.

The party, which is open to the public, will have food and beverages available for purchase.  Alcohol sales will not begin before 11:00 a.m.
