GoFundMe Created For Funeral Of Elmhurst Veteran

ELMHURST, IL — A GoFundMe has been created to support the family of Sgt. Ryan Boyer of the US Marines. Boyer lost his life Jan. 5 after battling post-traumatic stress disorder.

According to the GoFundMe, Boyer, 28, served two tours in Afghanistan and had six years of military service. The funds raised from the GoFundMe will help the family lay Boyer to rest.

As of this writing, $10,250 out of a $13,000 goal has been raised.

The family said Boyer was born and raised in Elmhurst and is a graduate of York Community High School. According to his obituary, a funeral will be held Tuesday, Jan. 15 at Pedersen Ryberg Funeral Home. Boyer is survived by his wife Carla, father Bret, step-mother Robin, sister Brittany, brother John, step-father Brien, niece Chloe and nephew Nicholas.
