Gun At Eatery, Stolen Tips: Elmhurst Cops
An employee discovered a gun in a restroom at a local restaurant, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a gun at a restaurant, stolen tips, theft, the seizure of a gun, a mystery photographer, retail theft, domestic battery, fraud and a dog bite. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Gun at restaurant
- An employee at Starbucks, 624 N. York St., found a gun about 5 p.m. Sunday in a restroom. Police took possession of it.

- A man grabbed the tip jar and ran out about 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Kimmer's Ice Cream, 110 W. Park Ave. The man was described as white, having brown hair and a short beard, and wearing a green cargo shirt and black shorts.
Theft
- A man told police that he left his personal belongings in a truck for about five minutes about 2:30 a.m. Thursday at Super Ego Holding, 677 N. Larch Ave. When he returned, the items were stolen.
- Someone stole an unlocked Trek Dual Sport 1 men's mountain bicycle between 6:30 a.m. and 7:40 a.m. Friday from a house in the 600 block of West Crockett Avenue.
Seizure of gun

- Elmhurst police were informed by the state Thursday that it suspended a resident's firearm owner's identification, or FOID card. The police department plans to seize the card from the resident, who lives in the 600 block of Elm Park Avenue.
Taking photos
- Police received a report of a man in a car taking photos shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday at Bryan Middle School, 111 W. Butterfield Road. It turned out the man was taking a photo of his daughter.
Retail theft
- Two men and a woman stole a shopping cart full of liquor about 7 p.m. Thursday at Jewel, 944 S. York St. The suspects got into a red Kia Optima, which was last seen headed west on Butterfield Road. The first man was described as black, 20 to 30, thin, having short hair, having no facial hair, and wearing a white T-shirt and black pants. The second man was described as black, 20 to 30, thin, having short hair, having no facial hair, and wearing a gray and black hat, a red T-shirt and black jogging pants. The woman was described as black, 20 to 30, large, and wearing a blue jean jacket and black shorts.
- A man put liquor bottles in his backpack and stole them shortly before midnight Sunday at Jewel, 153 E. Schiller St. The man was described as black, having blond hair, having a medium build, carrying a black backpack and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.
Domestic battery
- A person struck a woman in the face and prevented her from calling 911 about 4 a.m. Friday in the 100 block of West Virginia Street. The suspect would not come out of his house to meet with police. Officers obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect. The incident was labeled domestic battery.
Fraud
- A resident in the 800 block of South Parkside Avenue told police that fraudulent purchases were made after the resident contacted a number prompted by his TV. The victim gave remote access to a stranger, who made unauthorized gift card purchases and opened a Target credit card in the victim's name.
Dog bite
- A man told police that he was bitten in the left calf by a white and brown Great Pyrenees dog about noon Saturday in the 400 block of West Montrose Avenue. A dog bite report was sent to DuPage County Animal Services.
