Gym Theft, Battery: Elmhurst Cops
A man reported a theft from an unlocked locker at an Elmhurst gym, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a gym theft, a battery, a burglary, drug possession, weapons charges, DUI and retail theft. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Gym theft
- A man told police that someone stole his jacket from an unlocked locker while he was working out between 3:15 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. Wednesday at LA Fitness, 620 N. York St.

- A security officer at Elmhurst Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill Road, told police that a person scratched him while the person was being put in restraints about 7 a.m. Tuesday. The security officer did not want to sign a complaint.
Burglary
- Dariel Castillo Morale, 35, of Chicago, was arrested about 3 p.m. Monday at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83, on charges of retail theft, burglary, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

- A 48-year-old man who lives in the 400 block of North Elm Street in Elmhurst was arrested about 10:30 a.m. Monday at North and Highview avenues on charges of possession of a controlled substance, driving with a revoked license and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. He was released.
Weapons charges
- A 23-year-old Lombard man was arrested about 11 p.m. Monday in the 600 block of West North Avenue on charges of DUI, unlawful use of a weapon (two counts), possession of ammunition, possession of a gun without a firearm owner's identification card, unlawful possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of alcohol in a car, disobeying a traffic control device and illegal parking where prohibited. He was released.
Trespass to a vehicle
- A 29-year-old Zion man was arrested about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday at York and Van Buren streets on charges of criminal trespass to a vehicle, obstructing identification, driving with a revoked license, avoiding a traffic control device, improper display of a license plate and driving an uninsured car. He was also wanted on a DuPage County warrant. Police said he had a stolen car. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
DUI
- A 26-year-old Wheaton woman was arrested about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of North Addison Avenue on charges of DUI and driving an uninsured car. Police said she was sleeping in her car while it was running. She was released.
Fugitive driver
- An officer tried to stop the driver of a Jeep Grand Cherokee about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Charles Road and Route 83. The driver sped away, last seen heading north on Route 83.
Retail theft
- A man committed retail theft about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at CVS Pharmacy, 110 W. North Ave. He left with an unknown amount of merchandise in a red Ford F-150 Raptor pickup truck. Police said the truck was administratively towed for investigative purposes. They did not say how they came upon the truck.
