Harassment, Domestic Battery: Elmhurst Cops

A woman was followed into her building by a former friend, who said he was worried about her well-being, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving harassment, domestic battery, DUIs, retail theft and a visitation issue. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Harassment

  • A resident in the 100 block of North Michigan told police Friday that a former friend followed her to her residence and attempted to get in the building. The former friend said he was concerned for the woman's well-being and wanted to talk further. The suspect was told to have no contact with the woman.
  • A resident in the 500 block of West Crockett told police Friday that his ex-girlfriend had been following him and calling his phone repeatedly. An investigation is pending.

  • Police said they responded to a domestic battery about 3 p.m. Friday in the 200 block of North Willow Road. An investigation is pending.

Two in car arrested

  • Dakota R. Beeter, 28, of Ingleside, was arrested about 4 p.m. Thursday in the 200 block of North York Street on a Lake County warrant and charges of driving with a suspended license, possessing drug paraphernalia, improperly using lanes and disobeying a traffic control device. During the same stop, Gustabo Salazar, 36, of Zion, was arrested on two counts of possession of a controlled substance. Police said they were called about a suspicious incident in which the suspects placed a tracker on a car and waved a gun at a man at Ming Chef, 233 N. York St. Both were taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Warrant

  • Taray D. Love, 30, of Elmhurst, was arrested about 11 p.m. Thursday at West and Babcock avenues on a DuPage County warrant and a charge of tinted windows. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

DUIs

  • Nicholas Roberts, 43, of Hartland, Wisconsin, was arrested about 1 a.m. Saturday at York and Lake streets on charges of DUI, improperly using lanes, failing to signal and resisting arrest. He was released on bond.
  • Guillermo Balderas-Gamboa, 33, of Glendale Heights, was arrested about 10:30 p.m. Saturday at Schiller Street and Commerce Avenue on charges of DUI, driving an uninsured car and illegally transporting open alcohol. He was released on bond.

Suspicious

  • A resident in the 400 block of North Oak Street made an appointment for a company to arrive at his home about 1:30 a.m. Thursday. But the person who showed up did not have any proper identification connecting the person to the business. The suspect then left. An investigation is pending.

Littering

  • A 40-year-old resident in the 200 block of East Cayuga Avenue was cited on a charge of littering about 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Retail theft

  • Someone stole merchandise about 6:30 a.m May 3 at Jewel, 153 E. Schiller St. It was reported eight days later.

Bicycles found

  • A gray Roadmaster Granite Peak men's bicycle and a backpack with alcohol were found about 7 a.m. Saturday in the parking lot at 205 N. Addison Ave. The bike was placed into evidence.
  • A Red Giant bicycle was found about 9:30 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of North Hampshire Avenue. It was placed into evidence.

Visitation issue

  • A man told police Saturday that he was denied visitation with his daughter at Portillo's. He said it was in violation of a court-ordered parental agreement.

Damage

  • A female tried to buy tobacco products without an identification about 12:30 a.m. Sunday at Shell gas station, 654 W. North Ave. The clerk refused the sale. The suspect left the store, but returned and damaged a sale display and a food warmer. An investigation is pending.

Scam

  • A resident in the 700 block of North Indiana told police Sunday that she sent money via Zelle to a stranger pretending to be a Facebook friend who was selling puppies.

Fight

  • A woman told police about 8:30 p.m. Sunday that she got into an argument with her boyfriend, who then punched their vehicle's display screen. Police were called at North and Berteau. It was determined the incident occurred on Interstate 290. State police responded to investigate further.
