Harassment, Threatening Message: Elmhurst Cops
A resident reports that six teenagers are harassing her by doorbell ringing and yelling, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving harassment, a threatening message, a custody dispute, bicycle issues and damage, among other offenses. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Harassment
- Six teenagers harassed a resident in the 400 block of Ida Lane about 9:30 p.m Tuesday by ringing her doorbell and yelling at her as they pass her house. The resident said a video documents these activities. An investigation is pending.

- A resident in the 600 block of South Bryan Street told police Wednesday that someone posted a threatening online message to the resident. The suspect said he had no intention of doing any harm to the resident. The suspect agreed to remove the post. The resident did not sign a complaint.
Suspicious
- Surveillance footage at Goodwill, 675 W. North, showed that a suspect dropped off items at the donation center and then while walking to his car, he bent over and picked up an item belonging to Goodwill. An officer contacted the suspect, who said he didn't know what the item was and would return it to the police department.
Converter theft

- A catalytic converter was stolen between noon June 21 and 9 a.m. July 22 from a car in the Alexander parking lot at Elmhurst University, 190 S. Prospect Ave.
Custody dispute
- A person in the 100 block of South York told police Monday that a suspect took their children on vacation and did not return them at the agreed-upon time. The suspect said the person was made aware of the extension. The case will be put before a civil judge.
Bicycle issues
- An unlocked white Trek bicycle was stolen between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday outside the YMCA, 211 W. First St. The victim works at YMCA.
- A black and silver Hyper Havoc FS bicycle was found Tuesday at the York fountain along the Prairie Path. It was placed into evidence for safekeeping.
- A white and purple Mongoose Ledge bicycle about 11 a.m. Tuesday at Eldridge Park, 363 Commonwealth Lane. It was placed into evidence for safekeeping.
- A red Specialized bicycle was stolen between 6:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday from a bike at the northeast corner of Park and Cottage Hill.
Damage
- A playground structure was damaged between July 18 and July 25 at Pioneer Park, 517 S. Mitchell Ave.
- Someone spray-painted graffiti overnight Monday on the north side of Hatchell & Associates, 414 W. Fullerton Ave.
- Suspects entered the property at 1001 S. Riverside Drive and caused damage between Friday and Wednesday.
Identity theft
- A resident on Fellows Court told police Monday that her checking account was compromised at some point since May 15. She reported unauthorized charges, withdrawals and deposits. The victim closed her account and is working with the credit union for a possible reimbursement.
