Hillgrove To Be Closed During Western Springs Protest
The demonstration is planned for Western Springs Tower Green, then participants will march to high school.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — Western Springs plans to close Hillgrove Avenue, from Lawn Avenue to Wolf Road, about 2:45 p.m. Wednesday. This will be during a Black Lives Matter demonstration in town. Once the protest moves east of Wolf Road, Hillgrove will be reopened to traffic. In a statement last week, the village said it was made aware of the demonstration.
The protesters are expected to assemble at 2 p.m. at the Western Springs Tower Green, 914 Hillgrove Ave. About 2:45 p.m., the group plans to walk to Lyons Township High School's South Campus, 4900 Gilbert Ave. The route will be east on Hillgrove, to the underpass located at Hillgrove and Clausen Avenue, south to Burlington Road, east to Gilbert Avenue, south to the school, concluding with a brief sit-down, the village said in a statement.
No parking will be allowed around the Tower Green on Wednesday, the village said. This is being done to prevent any residents from being delayed from moving their cars near the time of the demonstration.
