Improvements Planned For Elmhurst Park Playground
The playground's layout has been reimagined for the space, an official said.

ELMHURST, IL – The Elmhurst Park District plans to renovate the playground next to The Hub at Berens Park next year.
The project was originally planned for last summer, but officials believed Pioneer Park was in greater need, according to a district memo.
The Berens playground's equipment next to The Hub shows excessive wear because of frequent usage, the district's executive director, Jim Rogers, said in the memo.

The playground was last renovated in 2004. Its surface exhibits significant wear because of age, heavy foot traffic and UV degradation, Rogers said.
"The playground layout has been reimagined to optimize the buildable space, preserving existing trees when possible and planning for new landscaping," Rogers said.

The district sought feedback on the playground over the summer. The project is estimated to cost $740,000.
On Monday night, the district's board plans to discuss the playground.
