Inappropriate Photo, Bar Theft: Cops

A resident told officers that she received a photo from a suspect, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In recent days, Elmhurst police addressed cases involving an inappropriate photo, theft, trespassing, a missing person, a scam, an ATM issue, harassment and fugitive drivers. Here is information from Elmhurst police reports:

Inappropriate photo

  • A woman in the 400 block of East Vallette Street told police Sunday that she received a text with an inappropriate photo from a suspect. The suspect said he did not send any photos to the woman. He said a number of people have access to his phone. He was advised to no longer contact the woman.

Theft

  • A man told police that someone stole his jacket after he was not allowed back into The Club Shot & Beer, 113 N. Addison Ave., after closing Saturday. An officer was unable to contact the suspect.

Trespassing

  • A resident in the 900 block of South Spring Road told police Saturday that a person has been coming onto the resident's property over the last year without permission. An officer called the suspect and told the person not to return to the resident's house.

Missing person

  • A resident told police Sunday she had been unable to contact a person since early in the morning. The person was not answering his phone. Police determined through a phone ping that he was in Burr Ridge, where he was found dead in his car.

Scam

  • A resident on Fellows Court told police Friday she was looking for a new apartment and found a listing for one on Facebook. The resident used the Zelle app to send money to the stranger, who has since taken down the listing.

ATM issue

  • A man told police Friday that he tried to withdraw money from an ATM at Bank of America, 205 N. Addison Ave. The machine malfunctioned and ejected his card, with no cash dispensed. The resident later checked his account and found the electronic transaction was completed. The man reported the incident to the bank.

Fugitive drivers

  • An officer tried to stop a car shortly after midnight Saturday near Interstate 290 and York Street. The car had been reported stolen. The driver did not stop, last seen heading north on Route 83. That was where Wood Dale police continued the pursuit and eventually arrested the driver.
  • An officer tried to stop a driver who ran a stop light about 1:30 a.m. Saturday at Robert Palmer Drive and York Street. The driver sped away, last seen heading east on St. Charles Road.
  • About 1:30 a.m. Sunday, an officer tried to stop a driver who was speeding south on York Street, then west on Lake Street. The driver was last seen heading east on Interstate 290.

Harassment

  • A resident in the 100 block of North Michigan Street told police Saturday that she had been receiving intermittent calls listed as "no caller ID." She believes the calls were from a man whom she dated years ago. She has reported the man to the police before. She was advised to renew an order of protection against the man and contact 911 if she sees him near her house.
