Jewelry Stolen From Elmhurst House: Cops

A camera captured a person walking in the back of the house, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving burglaries, a missing man, a disturbance and identity theft. Here is information from the reports:

Burglaries

  • A person entered a house and stole a pellet gun and jewelry about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of East Atwater Avenue. An officer reviewed a doorbell camera's footage, which showed a person walking to the back of the house. The person then climbed a fence and entered the passenger side of a black Chevrolet SUV. An investigation is pending. Police gave no description of the suspect.
  • A person gained access to a classroom through an unlocked window between Feb. 17 and Feb. 21 at Conrad Fischer Elementary School, 888 N. Wilson St. Nothing was damaged or stolen. The incident was labeled a burglary.

Missing man

  • A person in the 400 block of West Butterfield Road reported Monday that his 38-year-old son was missing. He said his son was last seen Dec. 13. An investigation is pending.

Disturbance

  • A couple argued about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in their room at Extended Stay of America, 550 W. Grand Ave. The couple agreed to separate for the time being.

  • A resident in the 700 block of North Michigan told police Monday that she was notified by AT&T that someone had bought an iPhone in her name. She informed AT&T that the transaction was fraudulent.
  • A resident in the 200 block of Oaklawn Avenue told police Wednesday that someone used her personal information to file for unemployment benefits.
  • A resident in the 400 block of West Montrose Avenue told police Wednesday that someone used his personal information to open a Verizon account. The resident called Verizon to report the fraud.
  • A resident at the Atrium complex on Oak Tree Court told police Wednesday that someone used her personal information to open a credit card account with Bank of America. The account was then closed.
