Knife Waving, Yelling Customer: Elmhurst Police
Man was charged with disorderly conduct after knife incident, police say.
ELMHURST, IL – In recent days, Elmhurst police charged people with disorderly conduct, DUI, underage drinking, hit-and-runs and drug possession. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Disorderly conduct
- Louis A. Szabo, 33, of Addison, was cited at 2 a.m. Saturday in the 100 block of North Addison on a charge of disorderly conduct. He was released on bond. Police said they responded to the location because Szabo was waving a knife.
- Ruben Ortiz, 30, of Melrose Park, was arrested about 11:30 p.m. Saturday at Extended Stay America, 550 W. Grand Ave., on a charge of disorderly conduct. He was released on bond. According to a police report, Ortiz continuously hit the front desk glass and yelled at the victim because he was told he could not use the phone.
DUIs

- Julio Medina, 30, of Chicago, was arrested about 1:30 a.m. Saturday at York and Fremont on charges of DUI, improper lane usage and driving without headlights. He was released on bond. In the same incident, his passenger, Ana Casas, 26, of Villa Park, was arrested on a charge of unlawful possession of a controlled substance. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
- Sheenia Herron, 38, of South Holland, was arrested about 1:30 a.m. Sunday at Roosevelt and Route 83 on charges of DUI, speeding over the limit by 35 mph or more, improper lane usage and failure to signal when changing lanes. She was released on bond.
- William Estrada, 39, of Hoffman Estates, was arrested about 8:30 p.m. Saturday at North and Highview on charges of aggravated DUI, aggravated driving on a suspended or revoked driver’s license, improper lane usage, disobeying a traffic control device, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and no valid driver’s license. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Underage drinking
- A 20-year-old woman of Niles was cited about 11:30 p.m. Thursday at Fitz’s Pub, 172 N. Addison, on charges of consumption of alcohol by a minor, false use of identification and possession of tobacco products by a minor. She was released on bond.
Hit-and-runs

- Jan E. Kranz, 66, of Franklin Park, was cited about 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Whole Foods Market, 215 S. Route 83, on a charge of failure to give information after striking an unattended vehicle. She was released on bond.
- John D. Cordero, 23, of Elmhurst, was cited about 2 p.m. Friday at Kohl’s, 303 S. Route 83, on a charge of failure to give information after striking an unattended vehicle. He was released on bond.
Drugs
- Jonathan Hovde, 35, of Glen Ellyn, was arrested about 9:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Charles and West on a charge of unlawful possession of a controlled substance. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
