Library Exhibit Celebrates African-American Book Illustrations
Author event scheduled March 8
Elmhurst, IL – Telling a People’s Story: African-American Illustrated Children’s Literature is on display at Elmhurst Public Library. The exhibit is free to the public and remains open until January 24, 2021. For those unable to visit in person, a virtual tour is available on the Library’s YouTube channel: elmlib.org/youtube.
The presentation of this genre offers a lens into the cultural, historical, and social makeup of African-American cultural identity, while also shedding light on the long-neglected world of African-American authors and illustrators in the pantheon of children’s literature. Elmhurst Public Library is proud to showcase this captivating exhibit organized by the Miami University Art Museum through a grant from the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation. Check it out on the 2nd floor of the Library.
