Library Furniture Finds New Life In Elmhurst Schools
The tables, chairs and shelves from the library are now used each day by students and staff at the school.

ELMHURST, IL — Students at Conrad Fischer have some new furniture in their school library—repurposed from the Elmhurst Public Library. The tables, chairs and shelves from the library are now used each day by students and staff at the school.
“We feel very lucky,” Donna Dewar, Library Media Specialist at the elementary school, said in a release. “The chairs are so comfy, we have our staff meetings here."
While Elmhurst Public Library’s Kids’ Library is undergoing renovation, old furniture had to be moved out to make room for the new, the library said.

“We knew the furniture items we no longer needed—though well loved—still had some life left in them,” Sharon Karpiel, Head of the Kids’ Library, said in a release. “We’re happy to know that children continue to read and learn at the tables and discover new books from the shelves.”
According to the library, Bryan Middle School, Emerson, Field, Jackson, Jefferson, Lincoln, Sandburg Middle School, Bethel Preschool, Immaculate Conception and Immanuel Lutheran also received furniture.
