Library Lurker, In-Law Ruckus: Elmhurst Cops

A suspicious man at a library gets a no-trespassing notice, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a suspicious man, trespassing, threats, DUIs, a fall and theft. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Suspicious

  • A woman told police that a man entered Elmhurst University's library, 190 S. Prospect Ave., and sat directly outside the private study room she was using. It occurred about 7:30 p.m. April 3. She reported the issue six days later. The man was given a no-trespass notice.

Trespassing

  • A resident in the 600 block of North Kenilworth Avenue told police that his ex-son-in-law trespassed on his property about 10 p.m. Monday. No fight occurred, but the ex-son-in-law had been told he wasn't welcome there. The man was given a no-trespass notice.

Threats

  • A resident in the 100 block of East Madison told police Tuesday she had been receiving threatening and alarming text messages from someone since October. An investigation is pending.

DUI

  • A 30-year-old man Chicago man was arrested about 4 a.m. Monday at Lake Street and West Avenue on charges of DUI, driving an uninsured car and stopping on the roadway. He was also wanted on a warrant. He was taken to the police station and then released.
  • A 25-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday at Lake and York streets on a DUI charge. He was taken to the police station and then released.

Fall

  • A man fell on a sidewalk about 9 a.m. Monday near the Elmhurst police station, 125 E. First St. He injured his hand and face. Medics responded, but the man declined treatment.

Theft

  • A woman took her truck back without paying for services about noon April 5 at TransChicago Truck Group, 776 N. York St. The theft of services was reported three days later. The business decided against pressing charges.
