Lombard Fire Dept. earns Elmhurst Hospital EMS "Run of the Month"

Paramedics were honored for delivering a baby in the ambulance on the way to Elmhurst Hospital.

Elmhurst Hospital’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) has awarded its “Run of the Month” for November 2017 to the Lombard Fire Dept.

On Nov. 21, 2017, fire department personnel responded to a 911 call at the home of a 29-year-old pregnant woman whose water had broken. While in the ambulance on the way to the Elmhurst Hospital Emergency Department, paramedics delivered the baby. Mom and baby were discharged from the hospital two days later in excellent condition.

In the “Run of the Month” program, Elmhurst Hospital’s EMS Team reviews ambulance runs by pre-hospital providers and selects one to be recognized based on the following criteria:
