Lyons Township Dog Training Club reopens for training
Lyons Township Dog Training Club is excited to announce we have successfully re-opened our doors and welcomed adults and pups back to our dog training classes as of Tuesday, September 1. The club cancelled training in late March in compliance with the state shutdown due to the Covid 19 virus.
As Illinois planned the lifting of restrictions, LTDTC began an analysis of what steps would need to be taken to safely reopen training for the handlers and the instructors. We worked closely with the management of the Odeum to ensure that classes could resume in a Covid-safe environment. Many new protocols have been instituted, according to the Director of Training, Kevin C. Wyderka. “Social distancing, one-way in/out, reduced class size, cleaning time between classes, self-regulation and staying home when ill, are just some of the many steps we continue to take to ensure you and your best friend’s safety.....”, and of course, masks are
required.
LTDTC offers year-round, Tuesday evening, 8-week (45-minute) group classes for all dogs (mixed and purebred) at all levels from puppy to advanced beginners to the seasoned competitor. Experienced instructors utilize positive motivational reinforcement training techniques. The club takes great pride in serving and educating the community by participating in events such as Ben’s Friends, our therapy dog group and Tails on Trails at the Morton Arboretum. Whether the goal is a well-trained family pet, a therapy dog or competition, students have fun learning and bonding with their dogs at LTDTC.
