Mail Carrier Bitten, Wallet Stolen: Elmhurst Cops
A mail carrier was bitten by a dog while delivering on her route, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a bit mail carrier, a car burglary, fraud, theft, a disturbance, a drunk person and found bikes. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Mail carrier bit
- A mail carrier told police that a black and white dog got out of a storm door and bit her left ankle about 3:30 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of South Kenilworth Avenue. An animal bite report was completed.

- Someone stole a wallet about 3:30 p.m. Saturday from a car at Whole Foods, 215 S. Route 83. The wallet contained the owner's driver's license, bank cards and other items. The theft was reported two days later.
Fraud
- A resident in the 400 block of North York Street told police Tuesday that he applied for a job online with a company calling itself Amaris Consulting and received a check online. The resident tried to cash the check, but his bank identified it as fraudulent. The suspect told the resident to send money via Zelle for a "timekeeping device." The resident believes he was defrauded.

- A resident in the 400 block of South Mitchell Avenue told police Tuesday that someone stole his handmade sign, which was attached to a fence near the sidewalk.
Disturbance
- Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 11 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of North Ridgeland Avenue. The argument was verbal only. Family members agreed to separate for the night.
Drunk person
- Police were called about a drunk person about 9 p.m. Wednesday in the 600 block of North West Avenue. The person was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
Bikes found
- A blue Mongoose bicycle was found abandoned in bushes about noon Sunday in the 200 block of South Berkley Avenue. It was reported two days later. The bike was placed into evidence for safekeeping.
- A blue Schwinn Ranger bicycle was found abandoned Wednesday in the 700 block of North York Street. The bike was placed into evidence for safekeeping.
Warrants
- A 41-year-old Maywood man was arrested on two Cook County warrants about 9 p.m. Monday. Police came into contact with him after they were called about a suspicious person near Timothy Christian Schools, 1061 S. Prospect Ave. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
