Man Adjusts Pants, Gun Goes Off: Elmhurst Cops
Man is in a public place when the accidental discharge happened, report says.
ELMHURST, IL – A man told Elmhurst police that his gun accidentally went off while he was adjusting his pants last week, according to a police report.
The gun discharged while it was in its holster about 3:30 p.m. Friday at a strip mall in the 500 block of West North Avenue, the report said. The man suffered a graze wound to his right leg and was taken to Elmhurst Hospital for treatment, police said.
The report included no details about the man or the gun. Open carry is illegal in Illinois. A person with a concealed carry permit can carry a gun hidden from view.
