Man Arrested After Striking Elmhurst Cop: Report

The man was reported as intoxicated and harassing customers of nearby businesses, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – A Villa Park man was arrested after hitting an Elmhurst police officer on the railroad tracks, police said.

About 7:30 p.m. Sunday, police were called about a man who was near York and First streets, harassing customers of nearby businesses, according to a police report. The man was identified as Michael Wright, 36, of Villa Park. He was reported as intoxicated, bleeding from his arm and standing on the railroad tracks.

The man then used his forearm to strike both of an officer’s hands, police. He was charged with aggravated battery to a police officer and taken to the DuPage County Jail.
