Man Arrested In Elmhurst Gas Station Attack: Cops

The suspect was in another person's car when the owner asked him to get out, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving aggravated battery, DUI, a warrant, an abandoned car, a scam and a suspicious bicyclist. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Aggravated battery

  • Markquell Green, 35, of Charlotte, North Carolina, was arrested about 7 p.m. Monday on two counts of aggravated battery and counts of criminal trespass to a motor vehicle and criminal property damage. Police said a man asked for Green to get out of his car at Shell gas station, 103 W. Third St. Green then fought the man and pinned him to the ground, police said. Green was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

DUI

  • A 44-year-old woman who lives in the 700 block of West Michigan in Elmhurst was arrested about 7 p.m. Monday in the 900 block of North York Street on charges of DUI, transportation of open alcohol and driving an uninsured car. She was released.

Warrant

  • A 25-year-old Chicago man was arrested shortly after noon Wednesday at York Street and Butterfield Road on a Rockford warrant. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. He was also charged with having tinted windows and driving an uninsured car.

Abandoned car

  • A gray Ford Fusion was abandoned Jan. 8 in the 400 block of South Argyle Avenue. It had crash damage and was causing a snowplowing hazard. An officer told the owner Monday to remove the car or it would be towed. The owner moved it.

Scam

  • A resident in the 300 block of West Eggleston Avenue told police someone called him pretending to be from Apple Pay support requesting his bank information. A payment was later sent to the suspect.

Suspicious

  • A person was riding a bicycle in the middle of the road about 10 p.m. Tuesday in the 600 block of North York Street. Police were informed. Officers contacted the person, who was determined to be doing well.
