Man Arrested In Elmhurst Neighborhood Chase: Police
He reached speeds of 72 mph on a residential street, ending up in a dead end, authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – A man who led police on a chase through an Elmhurst neighborhood Monday night was arrested, police said.
Yohanice Jones Skipper, 18, of DeKalb, was taken to the DuPage County Jail, police said. A 17-year-old Bellwood boy was also arrested.
Shortly before 10 p.m., officers learned of a pursuit involving the driver of a 2017 Hyundai Elantra that was stolen in Maywood, according to a news release from DuPage County prosecutors. The driver, identified as Skipper, was also believed to be connected to an armed robbery in River Forest.

Elmhurst officers tried to box in Skipper after he exited Interstate 290 and came to a stop at a traffic light at York Street. But Skipper drove away, striking the front passenger side of an Elmhurst squad car, prosecutors said.
Skipper turned onto Crestview Avenue and reached speeds of 72 mph in a 25 mph zone, police said. Skipper drove over a curb at Crestview's dead end and stopped near a house, where he and the youth fled, police said.

Authorities said the youth was quickly caught, with a handgun found in his coat pocket and a bullet in his pants pocket, police said.
Skipper was found in the backyard of a house, and a loaded handgun was spotted next to a garage, according to the news release.
A DuPage County judge granted prosecutors' request for Skipper to stay in jail until his trial.
He was charged with the felonies of possession of a stolen motor vehicle, aggravated fleeing and eluding a police officer and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. He also faces misdemeanor charges.
“The swift coordination of law enforcement resources in this incident led to the capture of two armed suspects within minutes of entering our city,” Elmhurst Police Chief Michael McLean said in the news release.
