Man Falsely Reports Gun At Elmhurst Business: Cops

He was also ticketed for parking in a handicapped spot, according to a police report.

ELMHURST, IL – In recent days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving disorderly conduct, a fugitive driver, fraud and a found dog. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Disorderly conduct

  • A 55-year-old Johnson City, N.Y., man was arrested about 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Super Ego Holding, a trucking company at 677 N. Larch Ave., on charges of disorderly conduct and unauthorized use of a handicapped parking spot. Police said the man falsely reported that another person had a gun during an argument. The 55-year-old was released and given a no-trespass notice.

  • About 4 a.m. Thursday at Interstate 290 and Lake Street, an officer tried to stop the driver of a Honda Accord after witnessing several traffic violations. The driver sped away, last seen headed east on I-290.

Fraud

  • A resident in the 700 block of Stuart Avenue told police Thursday she received a virus alert on her computer with a number to call. She called and spoke to someone who asked for payment to fix her computer. She transferred money before she realized she was being deceived. An investigation is pending.
  • Two men bought two gift cards totaling $900 via a cash app Friday at 7-Eleven, 155 E. First St. After the men left, it was determined the payment did not go through. The first man was described as black, in his 50s, 5-foot-10, having a medium build and a gray beard, and wearing a blue skull cap. The second one was black, 5-foot-10, 180 pounds, and had a black beard and twists in his hair.
  • A person in the 800 block of South Linden Avenue told police that he did not have his phone and wallet after taking a Lyft home Saturday. A day later, he noticed unauthorized charges on his credit card. He canceled his cards.

Dog found

  • A dog was found about 6 p.m. Sunday near West Avenue and St. Charles Road. Police tried to contact the owner, but were unsuccessful. The dog was taken to DuPage County Animal Services.
