Man Lies To Elmhurst Cops About Robbery: Police

This is the second false report to police in the last month, according to records.

ELMHURST, IL – For the second time in a month, police said they received a false report of a crime.

In the latest instance, Salamon T. Alexander, 22, of Chicago, was charged with attempted disorderly conduct involving falsifying a crime. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

About 9 p.m. Sunday, officers went to the 600 block of South York Street because of a 911 hangup. On the way there, they were told by dispatchers that a man, later identified as Alexander, was requesting police assistance for a stolen wallet, authorities said.

In speaking to Alexander, officers confirmed no robbery occurred and arrested him, police said.

The other recent false report was Nov. 9, in which a man called 911 to test their response times, police said. He lied to officers that he was in a fight with his girlfriend, police said.
