Woman Pepper-Sprays Elmhurst Store Worker: Police
She was charged with aggravated battery and retail theft, according to a report. He was taken to jail.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving an aggravated battery, a chronic nuisance, theft, a DUI and identity theft. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Aggravated battery
- Lashun Richardson, 25, of Maywood, was arrested about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Jewel, 153 E. Schiller St., on charges of aggravated battery and retail theft. Police said Richardson pepper-sprayed an employee before leaving in a red sedan. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Chronic nuisance

- A chronic nuisance warning was issued Wednesday to a business in the 600 block of North Larch Avenue. Police did not name the business. Patch has filed a public records request.
Theft
- A man requested a carton of cigarettes about 7 p.m. Wednesday at Cigarette and Vape, 697 N. York St. The man then grabbed the carton and stole it. He was described as black, 5-foot-9, and wearing a red and white checkered jacket and a black face mask.
Warrant

- Austin Brown, 27, of Bensenville, was arrested about 4:30 p.m. Monday at York Street and Crestview Avenue on a DuPage County warrant and charges of driving a vehicle while on the phone and driving an uninsured vehicle. He was released on bond.
DUI
- Tisha Barfield, 38, of Carol Stream, was arrested shortly after midnight Tuesday at Highview and North avenues on charges of DUI, driving an uninsured vehicle and improper lane usage. She was released on bond.
Identity theft
- Commercial Carpet, 893 N. Industrial Drive, was defrauded by a person pretending to be one of its suppliers. The incident was in mid-January. It was reported Monday.
- A resident in the 300 block of South Poplar told police Monday that she started receiving text messages from Citibank and Chase confirming purchases made in Chicago. This is when she realized her wallet had been lost or stolen. She canceled her cards.
- A resident of the 300 block of East Schiller Street told police Wednesday that someone used her personal information to try to obtain a college loan. It happened Feb. 17. The resident reported the fraudulent activity to the bank. The loan was denied.
Fugitive drivers
- An officer tried to conduct a traffic stop about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday at Route 83 and North Avenue. The driver of a brown Jeep Cherokee failed to stop, speeding east on North Avenue. The driver was wanted on a warrant for aggravated fleeing and eluding an officer.
- About 2:30 a.m. Thursday, an officer tried to stop a driver of a blue Audi S4 for heavily tinted windows and a loud muffler at Interstate 290 and York Street. The driver came to a stop and then sped away.
