Man Points Gun At Elmhurst Resident: Cops

A woman shouts at suspects trying to enter cars in a local neighborhood, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – New information has come to light about the armed men who police said tried to enter cars in the daylight Sunday morning in Elmhurst.

The incidents happened about 7:30 a.m. in the 100 block of East Columbia Avenue and the 300 block of North Larch Avenue, police said.

In a news release Sunday, the police said one of the men was seen with a handgun.

On Monday, the police department's media bulletin said a woman in the 300 block of North Larch saw the men in her neighbor's driveway across the street and shouted at them.

One of the men yelled back and pointed a gun at the woman, police said.

The bulletin said the suspects shattered a window on a GMC and rummaged through a Volvo parked in the neighbor's driveway. The men drove away west on North Avenue in a black Kia Optima four-door sedan, police said.

Over the weekend, police described the men, with possibly another suspect as a driver, wearing hooded sweatshirts and masks.

The bulletin further described one of the men as black, 19 years old, having a thin build, and wearing a black hooded jacket and gray sweatpants with paint splatter.
